Evikon E2608-NH3-E Ammonia Detector

Fixed Ammonia Gas Detection for Refrigeration Plants, Cold Storage and Industrial Facilities

The Evikon E2608-NH3-E is a fixed ammonia detector-transmitter designed for continuous leak monitoring in refrigeration facilities, cold storage warehouses, and industrial plant rooms where ammonia (NH3) is used as a refrigerant. Part of the Evikon PluraSens family, it uses a fully calibrated, temperature-compensated electrochemical sensor with four selectable detection ranges up to 5,000 ppm, and resolution down to 1 ppm.

Ammonia is one of the most widely used industrial refrigerants due to its high efficiency, but it presents serious health and safety risks at low concentrations. At 25 ppm, ammonia causes eye and respiratory irritation. At 300 ppm it becomes immediately dangerous to life and health. Continuous fixed monitoring with automatic alarm and ventilation control is the standard approach to managing ammonia leak risk in commercial and industrial environments.

Supplied by Indigi Power & Cooling across Australia.

Applications

  • Refrigeration plants using ammonia as a primary refrigerant

  • Cold storage warehouses and distribution centres

  • Food processing and beverage manufacturing facilities

  • Industrial HVAC plant rooms

  • Skating arenas and large-scale cooling facilities

  • Any enclosed environment where ammonia refrigerant is in use

Key Features

  • Fully calibrated temperature-compensated electrochemical sensor for accurate, stable ammonia measurement

  • Four selectable detection ranges from 0 to 100 ppm through to 0 to 5,000 ppm; up to 10,000 ppm on request

  • 1 ppm resolution for reliable early detection at low concentrations

  • Two user-settable alarm setpoints — default 25 ppm and 35 ppm aligned to safety thresholds

  • Two SPST relay outputs for direct connection to ventilation fans, sirens, or fire panels

  • Dual analog outputs (4-20 mA or 0-10 V) and RS485 Modbus RTU for BMS and SCADA integration

  • IP65 rated wall-mount ABS enclosure suitable for plant room and industrial environments

  • Wide power supply compatibility from 12 VDC through to 230 VAC

  • Suitable for operating temperatures down to -40 degrees C for cold environment installation

Important Application Note

The E2608-NH3-E is designed for refrigeration leak detection applications where ammonia concentrations are typically low. It is not recommended for use in spaces with constantly elevated ammonia levels such as livestock facilities, as prolonged high-concentration exposure reduces sensor lifetime.
