Collection: PowerShield Defence UPS Australia | Indigi Power & Cooling
PowerShield Defence and Ruggedised UPS Systems
Military-grade power protection for Australian defence, mining and harsh industrial environments.
Standard commercial UPS systems are not built to survive a defence or heavy industrial deployment. Temperature extremes, shock and vibration, electromagnetic interference, generator-derived power and remote servicing requirements will defeat a commercial unit. The PowerShield defence range - developed in partnership with Nova Electric - is engineered from the ground up for exactly these conditions.
Indigi Power & Cooling supplies the full PowerShield defence and ruggedised power protection range across Australia, including support for remote, fly-in-fly-out and defence restricted-access sites.
The PowerShield and Nova Electric Partnership
PowerShield's defence capability is built on a strategic partnership with Nova Electric - a US manufacturer with over 50 years of continuous experience engineering and manufacturing truly ruggedised AC power sources for the most demanding military and industrial applications in existence.
Nova Electric's products are trusted by every branch of the United States Department of Defense, all major US defense prime contractors, and allied defense departments worldwide. Some Nova Electric units remain on full-time active duty after more than 40 years in the field - a benchmark that no commercial UPS can approach.
Together, PowerShield and Nova Electric deliver a complete ruggedised power protection portfolio for Australian defence and industrial deployments, with local support through PowerShield's national Australian network.
Military Standards Compliance
All PowerShield/Nova Electric defence products are qualified to the following military environmental and electrical standards:
| Standard | Requirement Covered |
|---|---|
| MIL-STD-810 | Temperature, humidity, altitude, shock, vibration, sand and dust |
| MIL-STD-461 | Electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) |
| MIL-STD-167 | Mechanical vibration for shipboard equipment |
| MIL-S-901 | Shock testing for naval and shipborne applications |
| MIL-STD-740 | Airborne noise limits for shipboard equipment |
| MIL-STD-1399 | Shipborne electrical interface requirements |
For Australian Defence Force projects, MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 compliance are the standard baseline requirement. Naval and submarine applications require MIL-STD-1399, MIL-S-901 and MIL-STD-167 in addition.
Products Available
True Online Double Conversion UPS
The core of the defence range. True online double conversion means equipment runs on clean, battery-derived power at all times - zero transfer time on mains failure. Configured for the wide voltage and frequency input ranges found in vehicle, shipborne and generator-powered environments. Available in rack, panel-mount and custom enclosure formats.
Pure Sinewave DC-AC Inverters
Converts battery or vehicle DC supply to clean AC power for sensitive defence electronics and communications equipment. Ruggedised for vehicle-mounted, airborne and field-deployed applications.
Solid-State Frequency Converters
Converts 50Hz or 60Hz grid input to 400Hz output for aircraft ground support equipment, avionics testing and shipborne applications requiring aircraft-standard power. Fully solid-state - no rotating machinery, no maintenance interval.
Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
Ruggedised power distribution for defence shelters, vehicles and field-deployed systems. Custom configurations available for specific rack or enclosure formats.
Custom EMI Filters
Designed to MIL-STD-461 specifications, removing conducted and radiated electromagnetic interference from power feeds to sensitive defence electronics, communications and C4ISR systems.
Maintenance Bypass Switches (MBS)
Field-serviceable bypass switching for true online UPS systems, allowing battery or module replacement without taking connected equipment offline. Critical for remote and deployed applications where scheduled downtime is not an option.
Key Features Across the Defence Range
-
Robust construction: Aluminium chassis, mil-spec connectors, conformal-coated PCBs for moisture and contamination resistance

Australian Defence and Industrial Applications
Australian Defence Force (ADF)
Land vehicle power systems, naval vessel and submarine power, forward operating base communications shelters, C4ISR systems and airborne ground support equipment. Indigi Power & Cooling supports ADF-related procurement with full compliance documentation and Australian-based technical support.
Mining and Resources
Remote mine sites across Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory demand UPS systems that operate unattended in extreme heat, with generator input, in IP-rated enclosures. The PowerShield defence range covers all of these requirements where standard mining UPS options fall short.
Remote Infrastructure and Utilities
Telco base stations, remote government facilities, water treatment plants and energy infrastructure across regional and remote Australia. Long service intervals, LiFePO4 battery options and SNMP remote monitoring are available across the range.
Aviation and Rail
400Hz solid-state frequency converters for aircraft ground power. Shock and vibration rated enclosures for rail, tunnel and transport infrastructure applications.
Why Source PowerShield Defence Through Indigi Power & Cooling
Indigi Power & Cooling is an Australian Indigenous and Veteran-owned business - a registered supplier for organisations with Indigenous procurement requirements and defence supply chain commitments.
We do not simply resell equipment. We manage the full process: requirement assessment, product specification, compliance documentation, freight coordination to remote and restricted-access sites, professional installation and commissioning, and ongoing maintenance support.
Our team has direct experience coordinating deployments to regional QLD, NT and WA sites, PNG and Pacific Island locations, and defence-adjacent facilities where standard commercial logistics and installation approaches do not apply.
