Evikon E2673 Off-Gassing Detector | Battery & BESS

Evikon E2673 Off-Gassing Detector

Hydrogen and VOC Detection for Battery Rooms, BESS, Data Centres and EV Charging Stations

The Evikon E2673 is a fixed gas detector purpose-built for battery-based applications. It simultaneously monitors for hydrogen (H2) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) on a single unit, with integrated relative humidity and temperature measurement. Designed around maintenance-free long-life sensing technologies, the E2673 provides continuous early warning of battery off-gassing events in environments where delayed detection can result in fire, explosion, or toxic gas exposure.

Supplied by Indigi Power & Cooling across Australia.

Applications

  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

  • Data centres and UPS battery rooms

  • EV charging stations

  • Battery manufacturing facilities

  • Critical infrastructure with lead-acid or lithium-ion battery banks

Why the E2673 for Battery Environments

Battery off-gassing is the primary hazard in BESS, UPS rooms, and data centre battery installations. Hydrogen is produced during the charging of lead-acid batteries and released during lithium-ion thermal runaway events. VOCs, including electrolyte vapours such as DEC and DEMC, are early markers of lithium-ion cell degradation and off-gassing, often present well before any visible smoke or heat alarm triggers.

The E2673 detects both gases simultaneously on one unit. There is no need for separate hydrogen and VOC detectors in the same zone, reducing installation cost and simplifying integration. With a sensor lifetime of approximately 15 years and no scheduled sensor replacement required, the E2673 delivers a low total cost of ownership for long-term facility monitoring.

Three SPST relays (NC logic) allow direct hardwired connection to fire safety panels, ventilation fans, and audible or visual alarm devices, providing immediate automated response when alarm thresholds are reached. RS485 Modbus RTU enables integration with BMS, SCADA, and fire safety systems.
