Liebert, Emersonor Vertiv

The badge on your unit tells you roughly when it was made, not whether parts are available. All four names refer to the same product line.

Most Australian facilities running precision cooling own at least one unit whose badge no longer matches the company that supports it. A cabinet stencilled Emerson Network Power is a Liebert unit. A parts label reading Vertiv is the same component with a newer number. The lineage matters only because it determines which part number you should be quoting from.

How to identifythe part you need

Four pieces of information turn a vague parts enquiry into a firm quote. Most people already have three of them without realising it.

Find the unit nameplate

Usually inside the front panel or on the side of the cabinet, sometimes behind the filter access. It carries the model number and the serial number. Photograph it rather than transcribing it, because a single wrong character sends the quote to the wrong platform.

Photograph the failed part in place

Before removal, with enough of the surrounding assembly visible to show how it mounts. Orientation, connector type and mounting pattern are what distinguish otherwise identical looking components.

Record any number on the part itself

Boards, motors and sensors normally carry their own label. Any number is useful, even a superseded one, because it can be traced forward through the Liebert, Emerson and Vertiv numbering.

Note the fault and the site

Precision cooling spares split fairly cleanly into three groups: consumables and common wear items move quickly, platform specific electronics and motors are ordered against your serial number, and obsolete components take longest because the work is sourcing an equivalent rather than picking a number from a catalogue.

Are Liebert, Emerson Network Power and Vertiv parts the same thing?

They are the same product line under four different names. Liebert Corporation was the original manufacturer, Emerson Electric acquired it in 1987, the business traded as Emerson Network Power through the 2000s, and it became Vertiv in 2016. A single component can therefore carry a Liebert number, an Emerson number and a Vertiv number. We cross reference all of them, so an old part number from a service record fifteen years ago is still a valid starting point.

Can you supply parts for a discontinued Liebert unit?

Usually yes. Where the original component is no longer produced we identify the current Vertiv equivalent, an approved alternative, or a compatible aftermarket part, and on high value items such as boards and compressors an exchange or reconditioned unit is often the sensible route. Platforms such as Deluxe System/3, Challenger 3000, DataMate and Mini-Mate are still supportable. Where the honest answer is that replacing the unit is a better use of the money, we say so in writing.

What information do you need to quote a Liebert CRAC part?

The unit model number and serial number from the nameplate, a photograph of the failed part in place before removal, any number printed on the part itself, and the site location. The nameplate is normally inside the front panel or on the side of the cabinet. Photographs beat transcription, because one wrong character in a model number sends the quote to the wrong platform. With those four items we can almost always quote without a site visit.

How long do Liebert spare parts take to arrive?

Consumables such as filters, belts and condensate pumps are commonly available within days. Sensors, transducers and humidifier consumables are usually around one to two weeks. EC fan motors, control boards, iCOM components and valves are ordered ex-OEM against your serial number and typically run around two to four weeks. Obsolete components take longer because the work is sourcing an equivalent. These bands are indicative, and every quote states the confirmed lead time for your specific part before you order.

Which Liebert parts are worth holding on site?

Panel filters for every unit, a spare EC fan motor for the most critical unit, the temperature and humidity sensors specific to your platform, a control board where the site cannot tolerate a two to four week outage, and humidifier consumables if the units humidify. The value of a spares holding rises with distance from a capital city, so remote, regional and Pacific sites benefit most. We can specify a holding from your asset list so the parts on your shelf match the units you actually own.

Do you supply genuine OEM parts or aftermarket equivalents?

Both, and we tell you which one you are being quoted. Genuine OEM parts are the default where the component is in production and the difference matters, particularly control boards carrying factory firmware. Approved equivalents are appropriate for many motors, sensors, drives and consumables, and are often the only route on end of life platforms. What we do not do is quote an equivalent and let you assume it is OEM.

Can you fit the part as well as supply it?

Yes. Our technicians work on Liebert, Vertiv, STULZ and Uniflair precision cooling across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and the rest of the country. My iCOM display is blank. Is that the board or the display?

Either, and the way to tell them apart costs nothing. If the unit is still running and holding setpoint with a dead screen, the fault is almost certainly the display panel or its ribbon cable rather than the main control board. If the unit has also stopped controlling, suspect the control board or its power supply module. Check supply voltage at the board before ordering anything. Yes. We supply precision cooling parts into Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific, where freight and customs clearance rather than OEM stock is usually the longest part of the wait.
