The 9PHD is engineered for real industrial conditions — wide voltage ranges, variable frequency inputs from generators, extreme ambient temperatures, dust, vibration, and the need for long unattended operation in remote locations.
Key Features
Patented Eaton Hot Sync Technology
Hot Sync enables parallel operation of up to 8 units for capacity or N+1 redundancy — without communication cables or load-share signals between units. This eliminates the parallel communication link as a single point of failure, which is the most common cause of parallel UPS failure in other architectures.
Variable Module Management System (VMMS)
At low load conditions, VMMS suspends unnecessary power modules to maintain peak efficiency across the operating range. Combined with Hot Sync, the system remains fully redundant during module suspension. VMMS delivers 15-25% reduction in operating expenses compared to fixed module operation.
Energy Saver System (ESS)
ESS achieves up to 99% efficiency by suspending power modules while maintaining the ability to return to full double-conversion mode in less than 2ms. Transient filtering remains active in ESS mode, providing genuine protection alongside extreme efficiency. ESS operation reduces operating expenses by 75-85% compared to standard double conversion.
Eaton ABM Battery Management
Advanced Battery Management extends VRLA battery life through intelligent three-stage charging with temperature compensation and boost charge capability. ABM monitoring detects battery degradation and provides early warning of end-of-life conditions — critical for remote industrial sites where unplanned battery failure is difficult and expensive to remediate.
Modular Architecture with Independent Modules
Each power module contains an independent rectifier, battery charger, and inverter with local control logic. Module failures are contained without affecting remaining modules. Modules can be hot-swapped for maintenance without interrupting the protected load.
Wide Voltage and Frequency Flexibility
Standard nominal input/output voltages cover 380V, 400V, 415V, 440V, and 480V. With internal optional transformers, the 9PHD configures to any voltage from 208V to 690V — covering virtually every industrial electrical standard in use across Australia, including 690V systems common in mining and heavy industry. Input frequency range of 40-72Hz accommodates variable-frequency generator input.
High IP Protection Options
The 9PHD is available in IP23, IP33, and IP54 ratings — making it suitable for installation in electrical rooms, plant floors, and outdoor enclosures where standard UPS equipment cannot be deployed.
Seismic and Marine Options
A seismic kit allows installation in earthquake-prone environments. The 9PHD is tested to NEBS GR-63-CORE Zone 4 seismic requirements and withstands accelerations up to 1g (8.3 Richter Magnitude). Marine-rated battery cabinets are available for offshore and vessel applications.
Coated PCBs for Industrial Environments

Robust Construction
1.5mm thick zinc-coated steel plating, powder coated to RAL7035 as standard. Double-triangle door locks. Floor mounting options include wheels, vibration dampers, and seismic glands. Lifting lugs are standard for positioning and installation in difficult locations.
7-Inch HMI Touchscreen
The main control unit features a 7-inch colour touchscreen display providing intuitive UPS status, alarms, measurements, and configuration. Integrated LED indicators supplement the display.
