The Vertiv Liebert CRV is a precision in-row cooling system designed for high-density data centres, server rooms, and edge computing environments. Unlike traditional perimeter CRAC units that cool an entire room, the Liebert CRV integrates directly into a row of IT equipment racks - placing cooling precisely where the heat is generated for maximum efficiency and minimum hot spots.

Available in cooling capacities from 10kW to 50kW, two widths (300mm and 600mm), and three cooling configurations (air-cooled DX, water/glycol, and chilled water), the Liebert CRV provides the flexibility to suit virtually any data centre layout and infrastructure.

Why In-Row Cooling?

Traditional room-based perimeter cooling (CRAC units) was designed for lower rack densities. As modern IT equipment generates significantly more heat per rack, room-based cooling struggles to distribute cold air efficiently - resulting in hot spots, wasted energy, and reduced equipment reliability.

In-row cooling solves this by positioning the cooling unit directly within the row of racks. Cold air is delivered at the point of heat generation, hot air is captured before it escapes into the wider room, and cooling capacity can be scaled by simply adding additional units as density grows.

Combining the Liebert CRV with cold aisle containment can increase cooling efficiency by up to 50% compared to open-room cooling configurations.


Key Features

Precise Row-Level Cooling
Integrates within a standard row of data centre racks, delivering cooling close to the IT heat load where it is needed most. Eliminates the inefficiency of cooling an entire room to protect a few racks.

Adjustable Airflow Baffles
On-site adjustable air discharge baffles allow precise direction of cold air within the row, eliminating hot spots and maximising the effectiveness of every kilowatt of cooling delivered.

Independent Airflow and Temperature Control
When used with Liebert Optimised Aisle Controls (iCOM-S), the Liebert CRV independently manages airflow and temperature, supporting higher rack densities and dramatically improving energy efficiency.

Variable Capacity - Down to 2kW
The inverter-driven compressor modulates capacity from 20-100% of nominal rating, with the ability to turn down to as low as 2kW. This load-matching capability ensures the unit only uses the energy required - reducing electricity consumption during partial load conditions.

Variable Speed EC Fans
Hot-swappable variable speed EC fans automatically regulate airflow based on real-time rack temperature sensor data. Fan failure in one unit triggers automatic ramp-up across adjacent units to maintain protection.

Up to 10 Rack Temperature Sensors
Each Liebert CRV unit supports up to 10 remote rack temperature sensors. The Liebert iCOM control continuously monitors actual heat loads and adjusts cooling delivery in real time.

Multi-Unit Teamworking
Multiple CRV units communicate with each other via the Liebert iCOM control, working as a coordinated team to evenly pressurise the cold aisle and respond to changing load conditions across the row.

Simultaneous Top and Bottom Connections
Pipework and electrical connections can be made from either the top or bottom of the unit, providing flexibility for raised floor, non-raised floor, and various building configurations.

Minimal Footprint
Available in 300mm (12-inch) and 600mm (24-inch) widths, the Liebert CRV occupies the same footprint as a standard rack - preserving valuable floor space in edge applications, small server rooms, and data centres.

Multiple Monitoring Protocols
Supports HTTP, SNMP, RS-485 Modbus, Modbus IP, and BACnet IP for integration with DCIM platforms, building management systems (BMS), and enterprise monitoring infrastructure.
