Eaton 9PX UPS Australia | 1kVA to 11kVA Double-Conversion | Indigi Power and Cooling

Eaton 9PX UPS Australia | 1kVA to 11kVA Double-Conversion | Indigi Power and Cooling

The Eaton 9PX is the flagship single phase double-conversion UPS in the Eaton range, available from 1kVA to 11kVA in rack and tower configurations. It delivers zero transfer time, up to 95% efficiency in online mode, HotSync N+1 paralleling without additional switchgear, and the Eaton Gigabit Network Card for cybersecurity-compliant SNMP management. Available with lead-acid or LiFePO4 lithium-ion batteries (G2 models). Indigi Power and Cooling supplies, installs and maintains the full 9PX range across Australia.

Why the Eaton 9PX leads the single phase UPS market in Australia:

95% efficiency online

3-level inverter -- 4 percentage points above the 91% typical of APC Smart-UPS On-Line and Vertiv GXT5

Zero transfer time

True online double-conversion at all times -- no switching delay during any mains disturbance

HotSync N+1 paralleling

Two 9PX units (5 to 11kVA) in parallel redundancy without additional switchgear or licensing fees

Self-powered bypass

Independent bypass power supply -- bypass stays live even if main UPS electronics fail

ABM battery management

Three-stage charge cycle extends VRLA battery life by up to 50% vs conventional float charging

Cybersecurity-grade NMC

Eaton Gigabit Network Card -- first UPS NMC compliant with both UL and IEC cybersecurity standards

The Eaton 9PX 1 to 3kVA models are the first UPS in their class to provide unity power factor (VA = W), delivering 11% more usable wattage than UPS systems with a 0.9 power factor at equivalent VA ratings. This means an Eaton 9PX 3kVA (3000VA / 3000W) delivers 3000W of protected power, versus 2700W from a 3kVA UPS with a 0.9 power factor.

Eaton 9PX Applications in Australia

  • Data centre server rooms: the 9PX is the standard rack UPS for Australian data centre deployments. 95% efficiency limits heat output and power cost. HotSync paralleling provides N+1 redundancy in the same rack without external switchgear. See our server room UPS guide.
  • Healthcare and medical: zero transfer time protects imaging systems, theatre equipment and patient monitoring. The 9PX G2 lithium-ion models reduce battery servicing frequency in regulated healthcare environments.
  • Telecommunications and network infrastructure: Eaton Gigabit Network Card for SNMP and Modbus monitoring, compatible with Eaton Intelligent Power Manager for multi-site management across large telco estates.
  • Industrial and SCADA: wide input voltage range and continuous power conditioning handle the variable power quality common on industrial sites and generator-fed infrastructure.
  • Edge and remote sites: 9PX with multiple EBMs provides scalable runtime for remote and regional deployments. 9PX G2 lithium-ion models reduce replacement frequency between maintenance visits.

Eaton 9PX vs APC Smart-UPS On-Line

Online efficiency Up to 95% (3-level inverter) Up to 91% (typical)
N+1 paralleling HotSync -- built in, no extra cost Requires additional switchgear
Bypass reliability Self-powered bypass (independent of main electronics) Standard bypass
Network card cybersecurity UL and IEC certified Gigabit NMC AP9641 NMC3 (UL only)
Battery management ABM -- up to 50% longer battery life Standard float charging

Eaton 9PX FAQs

What is the Eaton 9PX UPS?

The Eaton 9PX is the flagship single phase double-conversion online UPS in the Eaton range, available from 1kVA to 11kVA. It delivers zero transfer time, up to 95% efficiency, HotSync N+1 paralleling without additional switchgear, self-powered bypass, ABM battery management and the Eaton Gigabit Network Card for cybersecurity-compliant SNMP management.

What is the difference between the Eaton 9PX and the Eaton 9PX G2?

The 9PX G2 is the latest generation and adds LiFePO4 lithium-ion battery options. G2 lithium-ion models carry a 5-year battery warranty versus 2 years for lead-acid, last approximately twice as long, are 40% lighter, and use a safer chemistry. G2 models: 9PX1500RTLION, 9PX2200RTLION, 9PX3000RTLION and 9PX6KiRTLION.

How does Eaton HotSync paralleling work?

HotSync allows two 9PX units (5kVA to 11kVA) to operate in parallel for N+1 redundancy or doubled capacity without additional output switchgear or software licensing. It is a built-in feature that most competitor products at this capacity require additional hardware to achieve.

What is the efficiency of the Eaton 9PX?

Up to 95% in double-conversion online mode via a 3-level inverter. This is 4 percentage points above the 91% typical of comparable APC and Vertiv products, reducing electricity costs and heat output in the rack.

Why does my Eaton 9PX keep beeping?

Common causes: on battery (mains lost or degraded), battery end-of-life warning, overload, battery self-test, or network card fault. A continuous beep means the UPS is on battery. A repeating short beep indicates a battery fault. Check the LCD for the alarm code. See our Eaton 9PX fault codes guide or call 1800 046 344.

What is the difference between 1:1 and 3:1 Eaton 9PX models?

1:1 models have single-phase input and single-phase output. 3:1 models have three-phase input and single-phase output, drawing power balanced across three phases and delivering single-phase output to equipment. The 3:1 configuration suits sites with three-phase supply infrastructure but single-phase load equipment.

Is the Eaton 9PX available in Australia with installation?

Yes. Indigi Power and Cooling supplies the full Eaton 9PX range across Australia with installation, commissioning, network card configuration and maintenance. See our UPS installation page or call 1800 046 344.

Eaton 9PX Installation and Maintenance in Australia

The Eaton 9PX 1 to 3kVA models connect via standard IEC outlets and can be rack-mounted or tower-deployed without electrical contractor involvement for plug-in installations. The 5kVA to 11kVA power module models are hardwired systems requiring a licensed electrical contractor for connection to distribution boards, following AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules. All models require commissioning to confirm correct operation before entering live service.

Indigi Power and Cooling provides professional Eaton 9PX installation and commissioning across Australia, including rack mounting, cable management, network card configuration, SNMP and Modbus setup, Eaton Intelligent Power Manager integration, and a written commissioning report. Our technicians hold the required electrical licences and follow Eaton manufacturer commissioning procedures for every installation.

For ongoing maintenance, the Eaton 9PX should receive preventative maintenance at minimum annually -- including battery condition testing under load, input and output voltage verification, connection torque check, and alarm system test. VRLA battery replacement is typically required every 4 to 5 years with ABM charging. LiFePO4 G2 battery replacement intervals are typically 8 to 10 years. See our UPS maintenance plans or call 1800 046 344 for a maintenance quote.
