Vertiv Liebert GXT5 Lithium-Ion UPS 1000-3000VA Online Double Conversion Australia
Vertiv Liebert GXT5 Lithium-Ion UPS 1000-3000VA Online Double Conversion Australia
Vertiv Liebert GXT5 Lithium-Ion / Single Phase Online UPS / 1000 to 3000VA
The Vertiv Liebert GXT5 Lithium-Ion range is a 1000VA to 3000VA single phase, online double conversion rack or tower UPS built on LiFePO4 lithium batteries, offering up to 10 years of useable battery life, a 5-year warranty, batteries around 45% lighter than lead acid and efficiency up to 95%, supplied, installed and maintained across Australia by Indigi Power and Cooling. It delivers continuous, fully conditioned power to servers, network racks and edge sites with zero transfer time, and its lithium batteries recharge to 90% in under two hours. Indigi Power and Cooling is an Indigenous and Veteran-owned critical power specialist, Supply Nation and ICN Gateway registered.
The Vertiv Liebert GXT5 Lithium-Ion is the premium tier of the Liebert GXT5 online double conversion family, pairing the proven GXT5 power platform with lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries. Lithium chemistry transforms the ownership story of a rack UPS: where a traditional valve-regulated lead acid (VRLA) battery lasts three to five years, the GXT5 Lithium-Ion battery is rated for up to 10 years of useable service life, roughly three times that of VRLA, so most sites will never replace a battery across the life of the unit. Online double conversion (VFI classification) means the connected load is always powered from a regenerated pure sine wave, fully isolated from the raw mains, so voltage sags, surges, frequency drift, harmonics and brownouts never reach your equipment.
Available in four ratings from 1000VA to 3000VA, all in a compact 2U chassis that installs as a rack unit or a free-standing tower, the GXT5 Lithium-Ion range combines a colour graphic LCD, individually programmable output sockets, two controllable outlet groups and up to seven battery-backed outlets. Because LiFePO4 cells are the safest lithium chemistry and around 45% lighter than the equivalent lead acid pack, the units are easier to rack, kinder to floor loading and faster to recharge. Indigi Power and Cooling supplies the range Australia-wide with optional installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance from our Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne hubs.

Why the GXT5 Lithium-Ion leads its class
Up to 10-year battery life
LiFePO4 lithium batteries deliver up to 10 years of useable life, around three times that of VRLA, so most installs never face a mid-life battery swap and the unit runs longer between replacements.
5-year warranty
A 5-year Vertiv warranty that includes the lithium battery, roughly double the cover of a lead acid GXT5, gives you longer budget certainty and a lower total cost of ownership over the life of the UPS.
45% lighter, safest chemistry
LiFePO4 packs are around 45% lighter than equivalent lead acid, easing rack and floor loading, and lithium iron phosphate is the safest and most thermally stable lithium chemistry available.
Fast recharge, 0 ms transfer
The lithium battery recharges to 90% in under two hours, so you are protected again quickly after an outage, and online double conversion means a true zero-millisecond transfer to battery.
Efficiency up to 95% / 98% ECO
High efficiency of up to 95% in online double conversion mode and up to 98% in ECO mode lowers running cost and heat load in the rack, and the range is Energy Star certified.
Scalable lithium runtime
Add up to eight VEBCLI-48VRT1U external lithium battery cabinets with auto-detection to extend backup well beyond the internal runtime, with two controllable outlet groups and up to seven battery-backed outlets.
Lithium-Ion versus VRLA lead acid batteries
The single biggest decision when specifying a GXT5 is the battery. The table below compares the GXT5 Lithium-Ion battery with the traditional VRLA lead acid battery used in the standard GXT5. Lithium costs more up front but wins clearly on lifespan, weight, recharge speed and total cost of ownership.
| Feature | GXT5 Lithium-Ion (LiFePO4) | VRLA lead acid |
|---|---|---|
| Useable battery life | Up to 8 to 10 years | Typically 3 to 5 years |
| Battery weight (indicative) | Around 5.9 kg (about 45% lighter) | Around 10.9 kg |
| Warranty | 5 years, battery included | Typically 2 to 3 years |
| Discharge cycles | Many more full cycles before end of life | Far fewer cycles, cumulative capacity loss |
| Recharge speed | To 90% in under 2 hours | Considerably slower to full charge |
| Total cost of ownership | Lowest over UPS lifetime despite higher upfront cost | Lower upfront, higher lifetime cost from replacements |

Applications for the GXT5 Lithium-Ion range
From 1000VA to 3000VA, the GXT5 Lithium-Ion range suits critical loads where long battery life, minimal maintenance and fast recharge matter most. Because lithium tolerates warmer environments and many more discharge cycles than lead acid, it is ideal for edge and distributed sites that are expensive to visit, and for facilities that want to install once and forget about battery replacement for the better part of a decade.
- Edge computing and micro data centre nodes at remote or hard-to-service sites
- Server rooms and network racks where long battery life lowers lifetime cost
- Comms rooms, switches, routers and firewalls needing clean, uninterrupted power
- Healthcare, imaging and laboratory equipment requiring reliable conditioned power
- Sites with frequent outages where fast lithium recharge restores protection quickly

Installation and maintenance across Australia
The GXT5 Lithium-Ion models connect through standard IEC inlets (C14 on the 1000 and 1500, C20 on the 2000 and 3000), and are straightforward to deploy, but any hardwired distribution, rack integration or building supply work should be carried out by a licensed electrician. Indigi Power and Cooling provides single phase UPS installation and commissioning nationally, including rack mounting, lithium battery cabinet connection, load transfer and configuration of the network card and shutdown software.
Lithium batteries need far less routine attention than lead acid, but scheduled inspection of the electronics and firmware keeps the system reliable and the 5-year warranty valid. Our UPS maintenance service covers testing, battery status verification and firmware updates, and annual maintenance plans keep your GXT5 fleet compliant. Runtime scales through VEBCLI-48VRT1U external lithium cabinets, with up to eight supported and auto-detected for accurate runtime reporting.
Australian sites bring their own power quality challenges, from long feeder runs and voltage sag in regional areas to generator changeover on backed-up sites, and these are exactly the conditions online double conversion is built to ride through. All fixed electrical connection work must comply with AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules and be performed by a licensed electrician, and Indigi Power and Cooling handles that side of the deployment for you so the GXT5 Lithium-Ion UPS is installed, labelled and commissioned correctly the first time.
Frequently asked questions
What battery does the GXT5 Lithium-Ion use?
It uses lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, the safest and most thermally stable lithium chemistry. They are rated for up to 10 years of useable life, around three times that of traditional VRLA lead acid, and are about 45% lighter.
What warranty comes with the GXT5 Lithium-Ion?
The range carries a 5-year Vertiv limited warranty that includes the lithium battery, roughly double the cover of the standard lead acid GXT5. Correct installation and scheduled maintenance keep the warranty valid.
Do all four models have unity power factor?
No. The 1000VA and 2000VA models have a unity power factor of 1.0, so VA equals watts (1000W and 2000W). The 1500VA model is rated at 1350W and the 3000VA model at 2700W, both at a 0.9 power factor.
How fast does the lithium battery recharge?
