Vertiv Liebert GXT5-16KIRT9UXLN 16kVA Online Double Conversion UPS Australia

Vertiv Liebert GXT5-16KIRT9UXLN 16kVA Online Double Conversion UPS Australia

Vertiv Liebert GXT5  /  Single Phase Online UPS  /  16kVA

The Vertiv Liebert GXT5-16KIRT9UXLN is a 16,000VA / 16,000W single phase, online double conversion rack or tower UPS with unity power factor and efficiency up to 95%, supplied, installed and maintained across Australia by Indigi Power and Cooling. It delivers continuous, fully conditioned power to server rooms, network cores and edge data centres, and ships with a Vertiv RDU120 network card and a 3-year warranty. Indigi Power and Cooling is an Indigenous and Veteran-owned critical power specialist, Supply Nation and ICN Gateway registered.

The Vertiv Liebert GXT5-16KIRT9UXLN is a high-capacity member of the Liebert GXT5 online double conversion family, sized at 16,000VA and, thanks to a unity output power factor of 1.0, a full 16,000 watts of usable output. Online double conversion (VFI classification) means the connected load is always powered from a regenerated sine wave, fully isolated from the raw mains, so voltage sags, surges, frequency drift, harmonics and brownouts never reach your equipment. For server rooms, comms cores and edge data centres that cannot tolerate a break in clean power, this is the topology that matters.

In a 9U chassis that installs as a rack unit or a free-standing tower, the GXT5-16KIRT9UXLN packs a colour graphic LCD with gravity-sensing orientation, individually programmable output distribution, hot-swappable batteries and a Vertiv Liebert IntelliSlot RDU120 network card in the box. It runs at up to 95% efficiency in online mode and up to 98% in ECO mode, and Indigi Power and Cooling supplies it Australia-wide with optional installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance from our Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne hubs.

Why the GXT5-16KIRT9UXLN leads its class

Unity power factor (1.0)

16,000VA equals a full 16,000W of real power. You can load it with more IT equipment than a 0.9 power factor UPS of the same VA rating, saving rack space and cost.

True online protection

Double conversion (VFI) isolates the load from all nine common power problems with zero transfer time, delivering a pure sine wave regardless of what the mains is doing.

Efficiency up to 95% / 98% ECO

Up to 95% efficiency in online double conversion mode and up to 98% in ECO mode lowers running cost and heat load in the rack, and it is Energy Star certified.

Intelligent battery management

Battery health status and replacement-date prediction, temperature-compensated charging and hot-swappable modules extend service life and cut unplanned downtime.

Network card included

A Vertiv Liebert IntelliSlot RDU120 card ships in the box for SNMP, web and Power Insight remote monitoring, with no extra accessory to buy.

Scalable runtime

Add a GXT5-EBC384VRT6U external battery cabinet to extend backup from 3.5 minutes to around 10 minutes at full load, with auto-detection for accurate runtime reporting.

Applications for the GXT5-16KIRT9UXLN

At 16,000VA the GXT5-16KIRT9UXLN is built for substantial critical loads that demand true online protection: a full rack or multiple racks of servers, storage arrays, virtualisation and hyperconverged clusters, network cores, and the compute and cooling controls behind an edge data centre. Because it is online double conversion rather than line-interactive, it suits sites with unstable or generator-backed power where frequency and voltage wander, and its terminal-block input and output make it a clean fit for hardwired three-wire single phase distribution.

  • Edge and micro data centres consolidating several racks onto one protected feed
  • Server, storage and virtualisation clusters with high sustained power draw
  • Network cores, aggregation switches, routers and firewalls
  • Industrial control, process and SCADA rooms requiring clean power
  • Healthcare imaging suites, laboratory and diagnostic equipment

For smaller or larger loads, step through the Vertiv single phase UPS range, and because a 16kW load in a rack releases significant heat, pair the UPS with cooling through our server room cooling service. Not sure of your runtime target? Use the UPS runtime and battery sizing calculator.

GXT5-16KIRT9UXLN vs a typical line-interactive UPS

At 16kVA the wrong topology carries real risk. A line-interactive UPS transfers to battery with a short break and passes raw mains through when it is not on battery, which is not acceptable for a rack full of critical infrastructure. The table below shows why the online double conversion GXT5 is the safer choice.

Table: Online double conversion GXT5-16KIRT9UXLN compared with a typical line-interactive UPS
Feature GXT5-16KIRT9UXLN Typical line-interactive UPS
Topology Online double conversion, zero transfer time Transfers to battery, 2 to 10 ms break
Power factor 1.0 (16,000W from 16,000VA) Usually 0.9 or lower
Output waveform Pure sine wave, always regenerated Sine on battery, raw mains otherwise
Remote management RDU120 network card included Network card often extra
Runtime expansion External battery cabinets with auto-detect Limited or none

Installation and maintenance across Australia

The GXT5-16KIRT9UXLN uses hardwired terminal-block input and output, so it must be connected by a licensed electrician as part of the building supply and rack distribution. At 135.2 kg it also needs correct handling, floor loading and rack integration. Indigi Power and Cooling provides single phase UPS installation and commissioning nationally, including positioning, terminal-block connection, external battery cabinet wiring, load transfer and configuration of the network card and shutdown software.

To protect your investment and keep the warranty valid, batteries and electronics should be inspected on a regular schedule. Our UPS maintenance service covers testing, battery health checks and firmware updates, and annual maintenance plans keep your GXT5 fleet compliant and reliable. Internal batteries are replaceable using the GXT5-384VBATKIT, and the GXT5-EBC384VRT6U external cabinet extends runtime when you need it.

Australian sites bring their own power quality challenges, from long feeder runs and voltage sag in regional areas to generator changeover on backed-up sites, and these are exactly the conditions online double conversion is built to ride through. All fixed electrical connection work must comply with AS/NZS 3000 wiring rules and be performed by a licensed electrician, and Indigi Power and Cooling handles that side of the deployment for you so the GXT5 is installed, labelled and commissioned correctly the first time.
